Eversolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 High-Fidelity Music Streamer

The EverSolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 is a high-fidelity music streamer, DAC, and fully balanced analog preamplifier that consolidates network streaming, digital-to-analog conversion, and analog source switching into a single chassis. It uses an AKM dual-chip DAC architecture — the AK4191EQ digital processor paired with the AK4499EX converter — alongside an 8.6-inch LCD touchscreen, SFP fiber networking, Wi-Fi 6, and native DSD512 and PCM 768kHz/32-bit playback. The EverSolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 is the successor to the EISA Award-winning original DMP-A8 and is available at Trutone Electronics in Mississauga, Ontario.

The EverSolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 introduces a substantially upgraded hardware platform while retaining the same core AKM DAC architecture that earned the original its 2024–2025 EISA Best Product Award. The most visible change is the larger 8.6-inch LCD touchscreen replacing the original 6-inch display, with a wider chassis measuring 388 x 265 x 88mm. New connectivity additions include a dedicated SFP fiber networking port and Wi-Fi 6, the processor was upgraded to a 64-bit octa-core with 8GB RAM enabling library scanning of up to 200,000 tracks, and evotune Pro room correction was upgraded with FIR filter support, custom target curves, and personalized tuning profiles.

The EverSolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 natively integrates TIDAL, Qobuz, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, HIGHRESAUDIO, IDAGIO, Calm Radio, SoundCloud, TuneIn, and Presto Music among others. Spotify Connect Lossless, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and DLNA allow seamless app-based playback control without routing audio through a separate interface. Third-party streaming applications can also be installed directly on the device with bit-perfect high-resolution output through the EOS engine.

The EverSolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 includes a dedicated SFP fiber optical networking port that carries the network audio signal over fiber rather than copper Ethernet, eliminating electrical interference that network equipment can introduce into sensitive digital audio circuits. The SFP port accommodates Gigabit single-mode single-fiber and dual-fiber optical modules, purchased separately. It is aimed at listeners experimenting with optical network isolation or dedicated audio networking in their digital front-end setups.

The EverSolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 includes evotune Pro, EverSolo's proprietary acoustic measurement and correction system that uses a microphone sweep to build a custom correction filter tailored to a specific listening room. The Gen 2 version adds FIR correction filter support, custom target curves, and personalized tuning profiles. A 20-band parametric equalizer is also included for manual frequency adjustment from 3.51Hz to 20,000Hz, with FIR filter import, loudness control, and dynamic range compression.

The EverSolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 includes a fully balanced analog preamplifier with both XLR balanced and RCA single-ended outputs, allowing direct connection to any power amplifier or active loudspeaker without a separate preamplifier. Volume control is handled by an R-2R resistor ladder system operating in the analog domain, preserving dynamic range and channel balance across the full volume range without digital attenuation losses.

The EverSolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 uses a dual-chip AKM DAC architecture pairing the AK4191EQ digital processor with the AK4499EX converter, separating digital processing and analog conversion into dedicated components for lower noise and more precise signal reconstruction. The EverSolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 can scan and organize up to 200,000 tracks in approximately two hours using its 64-bit octa-core processor and 8GB of RAM. Music can be stored on an M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD up to 8TB, a USB-connected external drive, or accessed from a NAS via DLNA. Cross-platform playlist integration, global search, and intelligent metadata categorization allow content from streaming services and local storage to be managed within a single unified library interface.

The EverSolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 supports native DSD512 and PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit through its AKM DAC and USB audio output, with lossless formats including FLAC, WAV, APE, and DSD for local playback. Optical and coaxial digital inputs and outputs support up to PCM 192kHz/24-bit and DoP64, while the USB-B audio input accepts DSD512 and PCM 768kHz/32-bit from Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS. The system also supports up to 16x audio upsampling.

The EverSolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 provides XLR balanced and RCA single-ended analog outputs, USB audio output supporting native DSD512 and PCM 768kHz/32-bit, IIS output up to DSD512/768kHz with eight configurable output modes, and AES, optical, and coaxial digital outputs up to PCM 192kHz/24-bit and DoP64. A dedicated subwoofer output with adjustable crossover from 40Hz to 500Hz enables clean integration with a powered subwoofer.
