When Bob Rabbito purchased the company in 1984, he brought with him not just technical expertise, but a lifelong passion for innovation and the customer experience.
The Vision of Bob Rabbito
Bob Rabbito, a Radio College of Canada graduate, began his career as a technician before founding Pat’s Video and Videoscope, one of Canada’s first Sony industrial repair and sales depots. When he acquired Trutone in the mid-1980s, he transformed it from a local electronics retailer into a leader in custom home theatre and automation. His focus on craftsmanship, service, and innovation set Trutone apart and helped pioneer in-home theatre installations across Canada.

As entertainment technology advanced, Trutone continued to evolve. Its 4,000-square-foot showroom became a destination for discerning clients, showcasing leading brands such as Bowers & Wilkins, Focal, Paradigm, Monitor Audio, Technics, Rega, and AudioQuest. Every system is designed and installed with the same precision and honesty that have defined Trutone from the start. Though technology has changed, the company’s core values remain the same: craftsmanship, integrity, and a commitment to personalized service.
