Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G?

The Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G is a 2-way wall-mounted loudspeaker featuring a 6-inch C-CAM RST III mid-bass driver and a 25mm C-CAM Gold Dome tweeter in a slim 135mm-deep enclosure designed for horizontal and vertical wall mounting. Sold as a single unit, it is a new addition to the Silver lineup introduced for the 8G generation, carrying Silent Flow Port Technology, RST III cone geometry, and the updated tweeter with vented rear chamber and shorting ring. The Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G is available at Trutone Electronics in Mississauga, Ontario.

Is the Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G new to the Silver lineup?

The Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G is an entirely new model added to the Silver range for the 8G generation — no on-wall equivalent existed in the Silver Series 7G lineup. What Hi-Fi confirmed at launch that the Silver On-Wall 8G is a brand new model class for the Silver series, with the 7G having offered only the Silver FX bipole/dipole surround but no slim wall-mounted option. Its addition brings a genuine Silver-quality wall-mounting solution to home theatre rooms where freestanding or standmount speakers are impractical.

Can the Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G be mounted horizontally and vertically?

The Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G is designed for both horizontal and vertical wall mounting for installation flexibility across different home theatre configurations. Vertical mounting is typical for left, right, or surround channel use; horizontal mounting can serve as an alternative to a conventional centre channel speaker in installations where a low-profile wall-mounted option below the screen is preferred.

What is the depth of the Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G?

The Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G has a depth of 135mm (approximately 5.3 inches) when wall mounted, projecting minimally from the wall surface. Its full dimensions are 465mm high x 300mm wide x 135mm deep, and each unit weighs 8.9kg. A wall-mount template and hardware are included to assist with installation.

What uses is the Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G suited for?

The Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G suits use as stereo main speakers where floor or shelf space is unavailable, as LCR speakers in a dedicated home theatre, or as surround channel speakers. Its 44Hz in-room bass extension (-6dB) and 88dB sensitivity give it meaningful full-range performance for a wall-mounted speaker, and its horizontal and vertical mounting flexibility adapts to a wide variety of room configurations.

What amplifier power does the Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G need?

The Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G is rated for 25 to 100 watts into 8 ohms. Its 88dB sensitivity makes it an efficient speaker compatible with most AV receivers and integrated amplifiers in the 30 to 100 watt range. Its 8-ohm nominal impedance is a standard, unchallenging load for any conventional amplifier.

How does the Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G compare to a conventional bookshelf speaker on a stand?

The Monitor Audio Silver On-Wall 8G and Silver 50 8G share a similar driver complement — both are 2-way designs with a 6-inch RST III mid-bass driver and a 25mm Gold Dome tweeter — but differ significantly in enclosure depth and installation method. The On-Wall 8G's 135mm-deep cabinet limits internal volume for bass loading compared to the Silver 50 8G's 332mm-deep enclosure, though its Silent Flow port and slightly higher sensitivity of 88dB versus 86.5dB partially offset this. The on-wall format trades some low-frequency extension for a flat, space-saving installation that a standmount on a stand cannot provide.
