Optimised for pure performance

Every model in the new 800 Series Diamond range benefits from enhanced technology. An upgraded Matrix™ design reduces resonance and creates a more believable soundstage, while aluminium Space Frame Bracing and an all-new aluminium top section and midrange enclosure within the cabinet help deliver an even more spacious and immersive sound.

Crafted to be better by design

The 800 Series Diamond looks this way for a reason. Its shape is dictated by the science of sound. Our cabinets are formed from a single continuous curve, locked in place by a solid aluminium spine, so cabinet reflections are reduced. Complemented by the Tweeter-on-Top, musical performance is always as precise as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5?

The Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker and the most compact model in B&W's fifth-generation 800 Series Diamond range. It pairs a 25mm Diamond dome tweeter with a 5-inch Continuum cone FST midrange housed in a new dedicated aluminium midrange enclosure, plus two 6.5-inch Aerofoil cone bass drivers. The Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 is available at Trutone Electronics in Mississauga, Ontario.

What makes the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 different from the other D5 floorstanders?

The Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 is the only floorstander in the D5 range that does not use B&W's external Turbine Head. Instead, its midrange driver sits in a new dedicated aluminium enclosure derived from the Turbine Head principle, providing similar mechanical isolation in a more conventional cabinet shape. This gives the 804 D5 a more traditional tower-speaker silhouette while still retaining the Tweeter-on-Top design.

How does the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 compare to the 803 D5?

The Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 is smaller and lighter than the 803 D5, with smaller bass drivers and a midrange housed in a new aluminium enclosure rather than an external Turbine Head. The 803 D5 retains the Turbine Head design and slightly larger drivers, giving it more scale and bass extension. Buyers prioritising the smallest possible footprint typically choose the 804 D5, while those wanting the full Turbine Head experience step up to the 803 D5.

What's new on the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 compared to the 804 D4?

The headline change on the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 is its new dedicated aluminium midrange enclosure, which the 804 D4 did not have. Alongside this, the 804 D5 gains aluminium Space Frame Bracing, a redesigned crossover with Signature-derived components, lower-distortion motor systems, and a new tweeter grille mesh. Together these changes bring flagship-derived refinements to B&W's most compact 800 Series Diamond floorstander.

How does the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 sound?

The Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 delivers a step up in resolution and refinement despite its compact size, thanks to its new aluminium midrange enclosure and Signature-derived motor systems. Its frequency response of 19Hz to 24kHz (+/-3dB) and 89dB sensitivity are slightly more modest than the larger D5 models, reflecting its smaller bass drivers. It is designed to offer a traditional, easy-to-live-with character while carrying the core technologies of the flagship 801 D5.

What amplifier does the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 need?

Bowers & Wilkins recommends 50 to 1000 watts into 8 ohms for the 804 D5, with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms and a sensitivity of 89dB. Despite being slightly less sensitive than the larger D5 models, it remains easy to drive with a wide range of amplifiers from compact integrated amps to larger separates systems. Speaker cable should be kept under 0.1 ohms impedance.

Is the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 a good choice for a typical living room?

Yes — the Bowers & Wilkins 804 D5 is B&W's most compact D5 floorstander, specifically designed for smaller rooms and living spaces. At roughly 1.1 metres tall and just over 40kg per speaker, it is significantly easier to place than the 801 D5, 802 D5, or 803 D5. This makes it a practical entry point into the 800 Series Diamond D5 range for buyers without a dedicated listening room.
