Our media player supports direct playback of full 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc images (BDMV and ISO) with menus in Dolby Vision (MEL and FEL), as well as various file formats including MKV, MP4, TS, and M2TS. All popular Dolby Vision profiles (P4, P5, P7 MEL and FEL, P8) are supported. The extended Dolby Vision metadata is used and transmitted to the TV to improve picture quality.

Dolby Vision® VS10 Video Processing

The advanced Dolby Vision VS10 video processing engine ensures maximum image quality when playing any type of content (SDR, HDR, Dolby Vision) with any type of video output signal (SDR, HDR, Dolby Vision), improves the SDR/HDR/Dolby Vision conversion quality, minimizes the effect of "posterization" ("banding") due to more advanced 12-bit video processing. This gives benefits even when using the media player with older TVs that do not support Dolby Vision.

HDR10+

The PlayerOne 8K is compatible with HDR10+ technology. HDR10+ is the latest and most advanced HDR technology, building upon HDR10 to further enhance the viewing experience. HDR10+ signals not just the dynamic range (the ratio of light to dark) of video content on a scene-by-scene (or even frame-by-frame) basis, it also provides, with minimal metadata, the scene characteristics between bright and dark so that important detail can be kept. This enables displays to reproduce images more realistically, adhering to the creator’s intent. Whereas static HDR, such as HDR10, utilizes static tone mapping uniformly across the duration of the content, HDR10+ employs dynamic tone mapping to optimize each scene, individually increasing brightness and adding contrast to fit within a display’s capabilities.

8K UHD

R_volution PlayerOne 8K features HDMI 2.1a output to provide ideal compatibility with the latest 8K Ultra HD video content such as HDR. Your videos can be uscaled up to 8K UHD resolution (7680 x 4320), which is 8x the resolution of Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) and 4x the resolution of 4K UHD (3840x2160).

DVD, Blu-ray & UHD Menu Support

Display the Blu-ray and 4K UHD menus and get access to additional content (director's cuts, theatrical versions, bonus extras, bookmarks, etc.) This feature is compatible with both ISO and BDMV (Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray). Or, if you do not want to display menus, you can start a movie immediately without trailers or warnings. The seamless branching is also perfectly supported for perfect gapless playback on director cut editions. Support for DVD menus is planned for a future update.

HDD Slot

With its 3.5 "SATA hot-swap rack, the R_volution PlayerOne 8K is capable of supporting up to 16TB of data internally and up to 32TB using dual partition; the equivalent of about 800 Blu-rays or 400 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray (bit perfect) on a single hard disk. And as it is possible to exchange hard drives, you have no capacity limit! With the PlayerOne 8K, you no longer need to worry about storage problems. R_video can manage one collection for all your drives. When you click on a movie poster that is placed on a hard drive not present in the player, R_video tells you which hard drive to insert into the media player.

Browse a genre. Sort movies by rating, duration, or release date. Read a synopsis. Play the trailer. Then, press PLAY to enjoy your movie. After the end credit roll, wait for the auto launch of the next episode of your TV show. R_video is included with the purchase of the player. There is no need to purchase a subscription.

The Rvolution PlayerOne 8K media player comes with a backlit IR remote control.

Switch instantly from one application to another (R_video or Explorer) using the direct access buttons: image ratio, resolution switch, subtitles, audio tracks, repeat mode, ... The remote control of the PlayerOne 8K feature true STOP button, and direct playback access to 1 min. forward / backward and 10 sec. forward / backward.

• Wide Range IR Sensor

The PlayerOne 8K features a high sensibility infrared sensor that cover a wide angle on long distance (60° / 26 ft). In addition, the remote control is equipped with two IR diodes. In addition, the PlayerOne 8K comes with an IR extender. This allows you to place your PlayerOne 8K behind closed doors in a cabinet or in another room and still be able to control them from in front of your TV. It comes with self stick tape on the back of the IR bud for easy installation on any flat surface.

Best performance

The PlayerOne 8K benefits from the Hi-End version of the latest S928X multimedia processor with integrated Dolby Vision VS10 engine. The main processor includes four ARM A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, a “big” ARM A76 core clocked at 1.9 GHz (with very high performance), as well as an additional core for system needs. The resulting processor performance is up to 2 times higher than the Realtek RTD1619DR chipset used on the previous version of PlayerOne. The GPU has been upgraded to Mali G57. Combined with ultra-fast LPDDR4X and eMMC, this delivers blazing overall system performance. The total Antutu score exceeds 300,000 points, which is significantly higher than that of the previous generation Rvolution media player.

HDMI 2.1a Output

Rvolution PlayerOne 8K offers HDMI 2.1a output for connecting to the latest UHD 8K TVs, projectors and A/V receivers. The HDMI 2.1a port features up to 48Gbps as well as other improvement such as:

• Dynamic HDR (HDR dynamic metadata) - HDR data (depth, detail, brightness, contrast, and color gamuts) can now be optimized on a scene-by-scene or even a frame-by-frame basis.
• Full 8K 60p HDR video support – UHD 8K resolution offers 4 times as many pixels than 4K and 8 times than Full HD 1080p. 8K format offers the most impressive viewing experience and delivers a smooth and sharp picture. The PlayerOne 8K supports both 8K 60p HDR video decoding from video files or streaming content with 8Kp60 HDR video output for the best possible visual experience. The PlayerOne 8K can also downscale 8K content to any other resolution for better experience on 1080p and 4K displays. It can also upscale any content to glorious 8K resolution.
• SmartTube 8K HDR – Some 8K YouTube streams are encoded in AV1 codec with a much higher bitrate (around 2x) than when playing 4K streams (50 Mbps in AV1 quality corresponds to an even higher bitrate of VP9 or HEVC) . This significantly improves picture quality compared to older media players that can only play 4K VP9/HEVC, included for users using 1080p or 4K displays.
• High Audio Bitrate – Support for high-bitrate home theater audio formats, object-based audio like DTS X, Dolby Atmos, and Auro3D, and uncompressed LPCM 2.0, 5.1 and 7.1 multichannel.
• Full Audio Decoding – Support full audio decoding and conversion of DTS-HD, DTS X, TrueHD, and Dolby Atmos audio tracks to 2.0, 5.1 and 7.1 multi-channel LPCM.
• Flicker-free framerate/resolution switching (FFRS) – Rvolution PlayerOne 8K offers advanced flicker-free feature for automatic framerate and resolution switching, which performs video mode switching before the start of file playback (rather than after) removing the unpleasant flickering when launching a video playback, resulting a better home theater experience.

Optional DC12V Output

In addition to the quality internal power supply, the R_volution PlayerOne 8K offers a DC12v connector allowing the use of an external audiophile power supply (not included) in place of the internal power supply, in order to satisfy the most high-end home theater users.

Real Cinema

Cinema movies are shot at 24 frames per second (fps), but most video or Blu-ray files are recorded at 23.976fps. Today, many multimedia players output a video signal at 24,000Hz. However, this conversion generates problems of stuttering, in particular on video projectors. R_volution Real Cinema technology maintains the original frame rate of the file, whether in 23.976fps or 24,000fps until the final display in order to enjoy the same fluidity as in the cinema and preserve the original integrity of the work displayed. On the other hand, thanks to autoframerate, the player automatically switches to the correct output frequency depending on the frame rate of the file, namely: 23.976Hz, 24Hz, 29.97Hz, 30Hz, 50Hz and 59.94Hz (60Hz) depending on the type of file being played.

R_volution products have been specially designed to operate in high-end installations and integrations using multi-level security locking, IP and IR control codes for ProControl, RTI, Control4, Crestron, Savant, Philips Pronto, Elan, URC and Logitech Harmony, a Middle Atlantic rack mount kit for high-end custom integrations.

• 3D Video Support: Enjoy all your 3D video files in SbS (Side-by-Side) and Top-Bottom (TV requires manual switching into 3D mode). 3D MVC Frame Packing not supported.
• Network Player: Connect your PlayerOne 8K to your local network and enjoy your content from a PC/MAC or a NAS via SMB or NFS. Caution! NFS is not yet supported by R_video.
