The Armageddon is a turntable power supply for the Linn Sondek LP12. It is built around a large 430VA toroidal transformer. Simplicity is the key to its uniquely musical sound.
Housed in a single, HiCap style, extruded aluminium case, it contains a simple phase shift network. It does not use mains filters as we have found these to be sonically detrimental. (We came across one turntable supply that severely degraded the performance of several systems immediately it was plugged into the mains supply -- without even being switched on or connected to anything.)
The Armageddon drives the turntable at 33rpm (50Hz) only, with great smoothness and a dramatic reduction in the motor noise and vibration which cause irretrievable loss of information at the stylus.
